Because these concepts are so often asked about, at least in this world of business, and yet often misunderstood, please refer to: Startup SEO

My Drive, allowing multiple users permission to edit a document at any point is the industry standard. If you’re not so familiar with My Drive, formerly Google Docs, we can email each other MS Word docs. Either way, edits will be suggested and resolved through the comments section, which is simple to use on either platform.

Today, most websites cover the information necessary to make a purchasing decision; but there’s always something left to discover.
If you’re interested in a discovery call, prior to making a purchase, we’ll book a date. Over Zoom, we’ll then identify your business ambitions, brand personality and discuss potential copy solutions. Bonus: At no point do I push a sale.

A brand if it were human. Copywriters channel brand voice through reflecting certain characteristics in their prose.
But determining those characteristics is a collaborative effort, between business owner and writer, hence the ubiquitous brand questionnaire.
Here’s my brand questionnaire, re-sent on service subscription, offered prematurely, given brand personality requires some reflection.
Brand Personality
This brief questionnaire is heavily inspired by Kate Toon’s content at The Clever Copywriting School
- What are some words customers who’ve bought from your business use to describe it?
- Ask a handful of people you trust for 1-2 words describing your business…
- And what are some words you believe encapsulate your business? Examples include: Quirky, transparent, pure perhaps?
Here’s another fun exercise to generate descriptions best-suited to your business:
1. Brainstorm businesses you favour in your niche.
2. Before brainstorming 1-2 words to describe each business.
Please now streamline the list to four words, from all complied, for easy reference.
Note that I’ll also field a few fundamental market research questions to understand your market after you subscribe to a service.
I’ll ask for basic demographics, specifically: age, gender and employment.
And run a mini SWOT, a marketing tool, which identifies major external, and internal, business opportunities and threats.
These research bits and bobs provide both strong insight into your market, and how your consumers will interact with it.

A non-refundable payment of 50% is required before I start working on your project. Unless-your project fee is less than $100, in which case the full service amount is required upfront.
Your final invoice will be issued within 14 days after the first full draft is sent or when final sign off is given (whichever occurs first).

My work starts and ends with the copy. Basically, keep me away from website hardwiring (unless you need an article regarding same).
As a writer, tracking website performance through KPIs, does not fall under my umbrella of practice (But, if you’re curious, I’ve written an article explaining popular performance measures of site success ☺).

Provided! References are not tagged to general, or assumed, knowledge. But where copy references industry-specific, or technical, knowledge expect in-text footnotes and a bibliography.
It’s great practice to reference sourced online info through in-text references. Here, referenced information is hyperlinked, either in part, or as a whole, to a corresponding external site.
I provide a full Harvard List of references for you to do with as you will. Should you want to:
1.Check that you're content with my reference material or
2. Use the list as a benchmark, facilitating the creation of hyperlinks at the web-building stage.

Applicable to every service but the Product Description and Instagram Caption, which are limited in descriptive scope, given their brief word count.
1. Engage a copy service; either through immediate payment or payment post discovery-call.
2. Receive a friendly Welcome Email, re-iterating key timeframes.
This email includes a short brand questionnaire to determine your brand personality, (this questionnaire is also mirrored under the subheading “What is brand personality?”, should you want to start reflecting on your brand’s persona now).
3. Once brand personality is nailed, I’ll start a first draft using either MS Word or Google Docs.
Revisions will be suggested and resolved through the Comments section on your preferred platform.
Fine Print:
- Up to two revisions are included in the full service amount.
- The time allocated to each draft is seven days; unless for Product Descriptions and Instagram Captions, which slightly less intense, feature a turnaround of max five days.
- Additional revisions incur a $35/h revision fee.
- A friendly reminder: Social media posts up for captioning must be emailed to me before I begin writing.

Working within this industry does not mean I entertain spiritual nor wellness scammers. I definitively refuse to work with red-flag businesses.
I do my due diligence, researching your company on formal inquiry into or on purchase of my service.
If found to be untoward, think advertising a thousand dollar service for curse removal, I’ll refund the sale and rescind my project involvement.

The copy refresh. A facelift for existing copy. But where do alterations end? The original copy may be incomplete in terms of both research and structure, or, at the other end of the spectrum, a perfect reimagining.
To this end, unsure of potential project scope, I usually don’t tale the copy refresh onboard.

Title Tags are codes, which describe website content. And with coding immediately off-putting to most, these tags are usually managed through web building software; think Squarespace, Winx…
In that Title Tag field, you enter a title optimised for SEO, as Google algorithms rely heavily on the code to understand your website’s relevancy or usefulness to readers.
Naturally, websites that Google views as better satisfying consumer needs will rank higher than their competitors. In so short a field, strategic keyword selection is the best way to optimise SEO.
Accordingly, I research keywords to increase your site’s SEO in a competitive space, further facilitating your title tag’s efficiency.
The meta description refers to the brief summary you see under a Page Heading on the ‘results’ page of a googled keyword. Google’s algorithm does not consider this code for site relevancy and therefore, it has little bearing on SEO.
While a well written meta description may increase engagement, there’s usually no need for you to input a meta description code when building your website. Just enter corresponding data adjacent the meta description field on your web builder elect.
All this to say, if the field is left blank, Google will simply select your webpage’s first few lines of text to display as its meta description. In a well-written piece, those few lines should succinctly convey the page’s overall meaning.
